Summer is very hot in India when temperature can reach up to 48 degree centigrade, but the for the people Bangalore (Bengaluru) summer was not cruel. Green screen of old plant besides road and in the garden of people absorbed all cruelty of burning sun and provided cool shade for the people of garden city. Summer of 2014 is very hot, even in Bangalore. Rapid development that made Bangalore 4th populated city in India ate green plants and presented people with very hot summer. Still, Mr. Madhavan Gururaj did not feel the hot of summer. He was still busy enjoying his retired life at his 5 acre farm house in Jayanagar. The firm house was densely populated with plants: from fruit to flowering plants. Guava, jackfruit, and mango plant were present in the farm house. Among the flowering plants the farm house had rose, jasmin, hibiscus and many other plants, the name of those I do not know.
Mr. Gururaj retired from a responsible position in Reserve bank of India in January 2014 and was enjoying the summer. As a banker, he know how to save money and grow it safely. He had now responsibility to manage the money and property intelligently. Those who have very good bank balance can enjoy the retired life peacefully. He also had no liability like child's education and daughter's marriage. His only son Dravid Gururaj had completed study and was working as an investment banker in New York. Senoir Gururaj could get all work done from his home. Royal store delivered required grocery and vegetables in home. He even ordered shoe, shirt, bag, bed cover online. Food items like Pizza, dosa and biryani also was deliver at home. Once in a while he went to Jayanagar 4th block to witness the development of the city. The could have enjoyed the retired life twice happier had his wife alive today. When he was working for bank, he was very busy and could not give time for his wife. Now, when he is available for full day, his wife is not there for gossiping and complaining.
Mr. Madhavan occasionally got call from young bankers for consultation otherwise he had no other work to do. The best way to keep himself happy was to think about his old golden days and love life. His marriage was inter-caste, it was very difficult before 30 years. He took 2 years to convince the girl and another 3 years to convince her family. He was ambitious and hard working therefore, he earned a lot. He liked her wife very much whose name was Mallige, the flower with sweet scent. If you are a botanist (study about plants) you may know it by name Jasminum gradiflorum L. If you are familiar with English you might have known it by name Jasmin. Mrs. Mallige liked Jasmin flower very much and put a little garland of it on her hair everyday. The flower scented full house even it scented the bed also. Mr. Mallige had tough time getting Jasmin flower everyday. There was no dearth of flower garland and money to purchase it, the only thing was he had no time to purchase it. He collected few plants of Jasmin in rainy season and maid planted it on garden. Year by year the plants grew in number and occupied a significant place in the farm. The scent from that those Jasmin plant was so much in summer that a passerby waited there for 2 minutes to enjoy the scent. Jasmin plant therefore was a symbole of love and pride for Mr. Madhavan. Mrs. Madhavan just passed away before 6 months. Mr. Madhavan cherished food cooked by Mrs. Mallige so much that now-a-days he asks maid to cook like his wife. Foreign tour and festival celebration with his wife were very pleasant.
Mr. Madhavan was king of happy times. Before he sleep, he thinks about old days and about his wife and he meets his wife in dream every day. He talk to his wife in dream and thinks about dream all day long till the next dream. On April 25th he was little disturbed when his son told him over phone that he met a venture capitalist who is willing to invest 100 crore (100, 0000000 rupees) initially for developing a software park. Actually any other father would have been very happy with this kind of proposal, but he was not as his son intended to use the farm land for software park. What Mr. Madhavan thought was, he would be robbed of Jasmin plants and memory of his wife. He was not willing to convert Jasmin park to software park for 100 crore rupees, but his son was also adamant on his proposal. He saw many houses were destroyed in Jayanagar to construct malls, show rooms and multiplexes. He never thought to loose his farm and farm house for money. Junior Gururaj thought, it was a best project for him so that he can come back to Bangalore. That day Mr. Madhavan was sad, so felt tired very much by evening and slept early. The same day also he met his wife in dream. His wife asked why he sad and he told everything. Mrs. Jasmin smiled and supported her son as usual. She told if son wants to come back let him come. She felt her husband would not be alone any more. Mr. Madhavan told he did not want to miss Jasmin. Like fore ever, she smiled and replied that he can still live in the same place and build a hanging Jasmin garden on the roof of software park. She also told " I did not study much and you made me to read and get a decent job. Like me there are many Jasmin in Bangalore. Why do not you make them educated and provide them job?" Mr. Madhavan liked the idea very. He was relieved. Mrs. Jasmin left after kissing on his forehead. That night Mr. Madhavan over slept. When he woke up in the morning, he called lawyer Mr. Srinivas Naik to draft a document for creating a Non Governmental Organization to eradicate illiteracy among women and provide them job in Bangalore.
In the same night, Mrs. Mallige met her son and told her to construct multi-floor software park in as less land as possible and to devote some money for afforestation. Mr. Dravid agreed to invest 5% of the profit of software park for planting trees across Bangalore.
